Good news …. Bad news…. I need to know

Running a business is a bit like driving a car, you need to know what’s happening.

In the old days larger companies had a host of middle management, that kept an eye on things and hopefully were on the ball and fed a summary of information to the senior management to help them make the all important decisions.

However nowadays, middle management has been replaced by systems that do virtually the same job.

Just imagine you are driving your car, and you had no speedometer and have to work out what speed you are doing, too fast you crash, too slow you don’t make any progress, same with the petrol gauge, over temperature warning lights, GPS system etc.

You are driving the car, you need to get to where you need to go in the most efficient way possible, to do that you need those important interfaces, you need the required information for you to make the correct decisions.

Data / Information is key, you need to have the correct information in the right format to enable you to make the right decision at the right time. Be it good or bad, to have a “heads up” on what is happening can make the day or at least minimise a potential problem.

In addition with current day systems you can have bespoke system focused on what you do, be-it a bakery, Retail company, manufacturing set up, the systems, if setup correctly will ensure all runs like clockwork, building in safety checks and a host of other good practises such as detailed monitoring of long lead time components along with many others.

Even the smallest of organisations can benefit greatly from well designed business software, and the cost can often be recovered in the blink of an eye.
